Intro
This week I am back to something resembling my old bouncy self and am using this platform to impart wise words about not biting off more than you can chew and ‘caning it’. Oh and chatting very enthusiastically about Zoolander. Blue Steel! Zoolander KAL anyone?? It’s all a bit sing-songy this week too.
Enablers Corner
This week I am inspired by Helen Stewart of CuriousHandmade and Paula from KnittingPipeline to enable you to Patty-Joy White AKA the Sox Therapist. Her Fish Lips Kiss Heel pattern is genius and she is selling it to raise funds to visit her family as she has Stage 3 breast cancer. I am offering to buy the first 10 people who reply on this thread the pattern, anything to help this very worthy cause.
I have also revisited Electric Sheep whilst I’ve been ill – get on Stitcher radio and have a listen, you wont be sorry you did.
Giveaway
I will be drawing the winner of Ann Kingstone’s book this week but in the meantime I have a new giveaway for you. Drum roll… 2 tickets to Edinburgh Yarn Festival. All you have to do is head along to Ravelry and complete this sentence a la the childhood game –
“I went to Edinburgh Yarn Festival and I bought….”
No need to remember or list everyone elses items that came before you, just give me a laugh!
I’ll be at the festival, in the Podcast Lounge for the meet up between 12.30 and 2 on both days and doing sessions in there at 2pm on each day, come see me, lets hug.
Wippin’ Piccadilly
I’ve been working on my Owligan by Kate Davies. It’s been a long road for me as I’m struggling with my teeny hands and big needles but I’m sure it’ll be worth it. It is also noteworthy that Kate won the award for Micro-Business of the year that I mentioned previously. Bravo!
I’m also knitting Voodoo by Boo Knits. I love her and I love beaded knitting. You can hear from Bev aka Boo in Episode 70. I’m knitting it in Tanami 4 ply from TravelKnitter in the colourway Stromboli and it is going to be beautiful when it is finished. The way she writes her patterns is very easy to follow. New mystery KAL – Danse Macabre – starting 1st April from Boo. Who’s in?
I’m doing some Penguin socks too as a travel project. I’m using the ScrumptiousPurl stripe-me-up yarn. It was another feature from the Winter 2015 collection in The Golden Skein. I’m a touch worried I may run out, prepare for some heavy negotiation people.
On my finished pile I have the Lush from Tin Can Knits. It has taken me some time, and much procrastination, but it is done; ribbon, buttons and all. I did need a helping hand from this video tutorial by the Knitmore Girls.
I am restricting myself, so as not to cane it you understand, so in future knits I am only doing Frisson by Brittany Wilson for a knit-worthy friend. Ssshhh don’t tell her…
There is a new retro-esque KAL coming your way. Think of it as reliving the best KAL you’ve ever had. Look out for it next week.
Wrap Up
That’s all from me this week. As always, thank you for listening. Feedback is always appreciated, and you can email me or message me via Ravelry or social media. If you enjoyed listening today, please consider leaving an iTunes review, to help others find the podcast too. Happy crafting!
So timely that you mention ribbon button bands as I’m at that stage with my cardigan for EYF! Hope you feel much better soon x
Thank you. The grosgrain is well worth the extra effort in my opinion. Be great to see it on you in person!
I would love a fish lips kiss heel pattern. And I love Boo Knits (but am a little bit scared of beading). And I love your show, and am off to listen now.
What’s your Ravelry ID Lisa? I’ll pop you a pattern over 🙂
