This is the day 5 post, a little late but better than never. The day 6 post is likely to be late also, as I am off to braai and drink sjampajne (Afrikaans for champagne, I have learnt all the essential nouns as you can see).

So you have an audio blog from me today, on how to make Afrikaans Bobotie. It’s very tasty. Click the link below to receive the knowledge!

Day 4: A knitter for all seasons?

My cunning plan comes together

This is an excellent and timely topic to be writing about today, one with which I feel inspired to make a triumphant return to my usual witty repartee. That is because I am British, and therefore obsessed with the weather. I didn’t realise that it is indeed the first thing we always talk about and that we are all indeed just like all the comedy sketches make out. And do you know what? I am so down with that.

K&C Blog Week: My Knitting or Crochet Hero

Arasaig + Heroes = this weekend

So, day 3 of the Knitting and Crochet blog week and day 1 of my submissions. I find blogging a very organic thing that happens when I have something to say and usually the writing happens very easily. I must say, writing what someone else has told me to is quite hard, maybe I should try and do a bit more of it in future instead of prattling on about whatever is currently getting my goat.

Birthday Cake

The Shinybees blog is 1 year old today. It was on 13th February 2011 that I wrote my first proper blog post – ‘The First Rule of Knit Club‘. Big me up, buttercup…

It’s been a while since I started a blog post with a song lyric. And I actually have a strong dislike for the overplayed ‘build me up, buttercup’, which was cool for a while, but now it’s my cue to exit the dance floor in search of a fresh G&T. Not that I actually go out that much anymore as a) I have a 7 month old, I haven’t been on the razzle properly for about a year and a half now and b) I live in the middle of nowhere, which in Africa is really the middle of nowhere. Anyway, as usual, I digress…

This post is in honour of my little blog being ‘bigged up’ by the lovely Louise on episode 42 of the Caithness Craft Collective podcast. Thank you! 42 is indeed the meaning of life, so if you don’t already, get yourself over there and have a listen. It’s good stuff. Just like the 21 year old ‘Old Pulteney’

So to all those of you who have found this blog via the podcast – welcome! And, all those of you who have been reading my ramblings, witty and otherwise, for a while – lovely to see you again!

Who is the other follower?!!

I made a recent new discovery when it comes to keeping up with all things blog-related: Bloglovin. I was alerted to it’s existence by Penny from Planet Penny, who found the Shinybees blog on Bloglovin. Naturally, I had to have a nosey, as I had previously not come across it.
