Free the variegated skeins!
It’s the third Free Your Skeins Friday and this week it’s all about socks, probably due in no small part to having cast on two pairs of socks this week: one for the Sock Surgery and one to review a set of teeny tiny Kinki Amibari needles for the podcast. This week’s choice of the ‘Atlantic Current Socks’ by Melissa Sibley is an homage to all the variegated yarn in my stash.
Variegated yarn. I just love it. I know it’s a bit retro and a little cheesy, but the colour changes just make my inner child skip with delight. It’s incredibly difficult for me to resist the allure of all the colours. I know they can be hard to work with, I know the finished result can sometimes look more than a little ‘play-school chic’ but I really don’t care. They make me happy and as a result they occupy a significant amount of my stash space.
These socks would be the perfect match for a cheeky little skein of Flamboyance Yarns Pharos in the colour way ‘Bower’ which has been mellowing in my stash for some time. It’s a standard 75/25 Merino/Nylon sock base, so would stand up to the wear test well, whilst the reasonably (for me) tonal colour way would be pretty and much calmer than a lot of the others in the stash.
What would you knit with this yarn?
