Intro

We’re in the midst of the endless winter here and waiting for Aslan to come and break us free. In the absence of any comedy patterns on a Narnia theme, the pattern pick today takes a different theme. The Lantern Waste Mitts are definitely worth looking at though; almost a work of art!

News

The Great London Yarn Crawl will be taking place on 5th September 2015 around London’s yarn and haberdashery stores. This year there is the addition of a Pop-Up Marketplace which will gather together great vendors from across the UK. Tickets go on sale on 1 July 2015 priced at £18 for the Yarn Crawl and Marketplace entry combined. For Marketplace only, the cost is £8. All net profits from the event will be donated to Refuge, who supports those differing from domestic violence.

Next up, A Yarn Story has moved to a new shop in Bath’s Artisan Quarter.

BritYarn is now open!

Enablers’ Corner

This week it’s all about our very own Clare Devine’s newly re-worked, updated and extended book, Sock Anatomy II. Get amongst having great socks for all the family as all nine designs now come in the full range of sizes from tiny to big foot!

Pattern Pick

Hilarity of the highest order ensues with the triumphant return of the Pattern Pick. This week, the subject matter is ‘Sun’, in an attempt to encourage an appearance from the burning ball in the sky – after all, it’s only June in Northern Scotland! Things take a somewhat unexpected turn to the kitsch when I am reminded of the 1990s in Wigan, and this perfume, by a sock pattern.

Sun Moon and Stars

If you’re ever confused by an advert of TV, you can guarantee it’s for perfume. But did you know, there’s a whole world of comedy perfume reviews out there, just waiting to be discovered? You do now.

Check out the set on Ravelry to see the patterns.

Sock Surgery Square

The Sock Surgery

This week it’s all about exploring those beautiful heels and cranking up the inspiration. Clare returns to talk all about heel variations.
