Plans and progress have been continuing at pace at The Golden Skein. We have completed the Trial Club and have launched the Power of 3 and Slimmers’ Clubs. We have a very lively Ravelry group – come and join, you don’t need to be an active subscriber to be in the group – everyone is welcome to join in the fun and release those golden skeins in your stash. We are also on Twitter, Facebook and we pin patterns and other knitty goodness on Pinterest. Sign ups for the first quarter end on 21 February and there are a limited number, so if you want to join, it would be safer to do it quickly! We also offer a payment by instalment option to spread the cost throughout the year.

Janefrogged on Ravelry is looking for help with creating bunting to yarn bomb Ampthill for Fibre East. Contact her on Ravelry or via jckclay@gmail.com if you can help.

I won a copy of Pom Pom Quarterly – “Fading Light” – in a competition run by Louise aka Madmum in the Louise Tilbrook designs group. Check out the gorgeous Silver Birch and Samhain.

Book Review

Sock Anatomy by Claire Devine.  A fabulous 9 pattern sock book which will teach you everything you need to know about heels, via the medium of mini socks. Podcast listeners can get 20% off the ebook with the code ‘shinybees1’. It’s a great way to learn to do lots of different techniques, without committing to a large or time-consuming project. Use up all those odds and ends to make something far more useful than hexipuffs.

Wippin Piccadilly

Finished item – The Golden Skein Stretcher, which is Quaker Yarn Stretcher by Susan Ashcroft.

On the needles – Golden Dawn Socks, Cranford Mitts, Protea on a Sunny Day.

Pattern Pick

This episode, the pattern pick is on ‘child hat’. Check out the patterns here.

That’s all for this week. New theme music was kindly provided by Adam and the Walter Boys “I need a Drink”, via Music Alley.
