Hello and welcome to the show notes for episode 12. This episode is all about Yarndale, a new Yarn festival held in Skipton in north Yorkshire in the UK. I was lucky enough to go along and met up with Nic from Yarns From The Plain podcast and Aimee from Knit Spin Cake podcast and we had a good old giggle and shopped till we dropped. Well, Nic did most of the shopping as you will hear shortly.

Listen here

Nic kicks off by talking about A Stash Addict, or rather ‘Skein Addict’ before moving on to her love affair with Ann Kingstone’s Stranded Knits and her new line of yarns with Yorkshire dialect names. She got some ‘Nesh’ and ‘Fettle’. There was also a purchase at Laxton’s, home of the first commercial worsted and fancy spinning mill to be installed in Britain for a generation. Hilltop Cloud provided some gorgeous spinning fibre, along with an apron from Quince Pie, which was fit for a funeral (don’t ask!) Bringing up the rear was the fabulous Tardis project bag from Daisy Bun Boo Designs, and a project to go in it: Natural Dye Studio’s ‘Iris’.

Then it was onto my splurges. A set of Chiaogoo DPNs from Purlescence, some Hiya Hiya DPNs from a stall, not sure which as it was so busy! Yarn-wise, a skein of Five Moons ‘Diana’ in the colour way ‘Fool’s Gold’ as well as a cake of Laal Bear’s Razzle Dazzle. There was almost a big yarn buying accident at Sparkleduck as well as a cashmere rehoming at Knitting Goddess.

We then moved on to Aimee, who bought two Susan Crawford books: Vintage Gifts to Knit and Coronation Knits. She bought a lot more on the Sunday, after we recorded!

We then went back to Spendthrift Nic, as she shall hereafter always be known. She got a couple of balls of Big Boy and some mini skeins from Easyknits and talked about her Adrift cardigan. It’s a bit lovely. Then there was a splurge on Fyberspates Scrumptious to knit Ann Kingstone’s Mallorn. You can see Jen’s Green and Magenta together on the page. We were sucked into the Sparkleduck stall and saw a gorgeous version of Rocio by Rock & Purl, a copy of which was rehomed by Nic. Skein Queen was also mentioned.

Then there were the other people of note seen after the podcaster mash-up. Ba’Tat yarns, Mo & Co, Natural Born Dyers, Yarn Garden and the fabulous faux taxidermy rhino head on the Toft Alpaca stall.

Thanks very much to Aimee and Nic for recording with me and providing me with such entertainment on the day, as well as the listeners with whom I met up. It was really great to put a face to a Ravatar!
